Saving with On-site Nitrogen Generation
This project was the installation of an oil-free compressed air and nitrogen generator system.
Equipment included a Powerex SEQ2007HP (20HP) oil-free rotary scroll air compressor package, Peak Infinity 5040 Nitrogen Generator, refrigerated air dryer, coalescing filter, and a 200 gallon air receiver tank.
The installation area was small so space was at a premium. Fortunately, the removal of the nitrogen cylinders from their gas storage room gave them the perfect space for the installation. The final equipment layout resulted in a compact but serviceable solution.
Customer decided to start producing their own nitrogen onsite rather than keep paying for expensive deliveries. Major cost savings can be achieved with on-site generation as compared to purchasing bulk or bottled nitrogen.
Cylinder delivery may seem like the best way to manage a gas supply but on-site gas generation is a more cost-effective & environmentally friendly way to secure ongoing nitrogen gas supply. While the initial outlay for cylinders is low, contracts are often subject to regular price increases, as well as hidden costs such as regulator maintenance, delivery, fuel & cylinder rental charges, which can soon add up. A gas generator offers a more economical solution, typically offering savings versus cylinder supply, within the first year of ownership whilst removing repeated cylinder deliveries & reducing your lab’s carbon footprint. On-site nitrogen gas generation can save space & minimize risk and handling errors; no need for gas bottles or liquid nitrogen tanks in your workspace.
To connect the equipment, the anti-corrosive, lightweight, & versatile Infinity brand aluminum compressed air & gas piping system was used for the compressed air and nitrogen piping.
